Ross county expo at Lorain County Fairgrounds

Lorain County Ross Exposition Center

MATO modular air rotation system conditions a 67,000 sq.ft. expo center.

A new 67,000 square foot exposition center was designed utilizing just two of the new MATO modular air rotation systems to heat and cool the entire space. The primary unit includes the heating section and DX cooling coils. A second MATO unit is configured to provide air circulation. It is not unusual for a single MATO unit to provide enough BTUs to control the temperature in a large space and only require a second unit to assist in spreading the air.

Since the county commissioners were anxious to have the facility ready for the 2025 fair, the modular, "stackable" design of the MATO helped reduce installation costs and time. Another benefit of the MATO units was the lack of roof penetrations that can be prone to leaks. Given that one goal of the commissioners was to create a facility that could be used year around for other events, the reduced risk of roof leaks during inclement weather meant that kids activities, trade shows, and concerts could be planned with less concern for unexpected closures. Installing the MATO units on the floor of the facility also helped achieve another goal of the designers. A 30-foot-high clear span without interference from an overhead air distribution ductwork system was achievable.

  • Much greater floor area coverage versus unducted rooftop HVAC equipment
  • Floor mounted installation reduces routine maintenance time and expense
  • No roof penetrations for reduced risk of leaks during inclement weather
  • Modular and stackable for simplified installation at floor level
  • MATO units offer shorter lead times for fast design-build projects
